The actress has been in New York filming Money Monster with George Clooney.

But Julia Roberts appeared to be enjoying some time off as she strolled around the city's East Village district on Friday.

The beautiful 47-year-old showed off her long, slender legs in dark blue skinny jeans and black high-heeled booties.

She paired the jeans with a chic blue jacket worn over a pale blue and white striped blouse that she wore untucked. 

And the Pretty Woman star carried a small black wallet and what was probably a smart phone in a brown case. 

Julia, who covered her eyes with celebrity must-have sunglasses, didn't appear to be wearing much in the way of make-up beyond some pale pink lipstick.

Her long red tresses were styled in gentle waves, framing her face.

The actress jetted back to New York on Monday after spending the weekend with her family in Los Angeles. 

On Sunday she and her cameraman husband of 13 years Danny Moder plus their children, Henry, who turns eight next month, and 10-year-old twins Hazel and Finn, were spotted in Malibu.

The family were out on what appeared to be a chilly morning to watch Finn play baseball. 

In Money Monster, directed by Jodie Foster, Julia plays Patty Fenn, the director and executive producer of the financial program Money Monster.

The hit show is hosted by TV personality Lee Gates, played by George Clooney, who offers up stock advice to viewers. 

But Lee is held hostage by an irate viewer, played by Jack O'Connell, who lost all his money following a bad tip. 

The busy star has also recently wrapped the final scenes on the remake of Argentinian film El Secreto De Sus Ojos, or Secret In Their Eyes, which is due out in October.

The film follows a retired legal counsellor who writes a novel hoping to find closure for one of his unresolved homicide cases, and for his unreciprocated love for his superior - both of which still haunt him decades later.
