Emma Roberts celebrated a milestone recently when she joined her aunt Julia Roberts in working with the screen icon Richard Gere.

While walking the red carpet with the 73-year-old actor on Tuesday for a Cinema Society screening of their new film Maybe I Do, the 31-year-old actress gushed about working with Gere while chatting with Page Six.

'I loved him in Runaway Bride and Pretty Woman,' she said, singling out the two romantic comedies he filmed with Julia.

'Obviously, he's worked with my aunt,' she said, 'so to get to work with him felt like full circle.'

Gere's decades-long connection to her family meant that it 'just made so much sense' that he would appear in the new romantic comedy as her father.

Making a rare appearance with Richard at the screening was his wife Alejandra Silva, a publicist who is 30 years his junior. 

The film is a star-studded affair with an ensemble cast including Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, Emma's Holidate costar Luke Bracey and William H. Macy.

Roberts' character is in for some awkward interactions after she learns that her in-laws after having affairs in the film by first-time director Michael Jacobs.

The cast was a bounty of riches for Roberts, who also gushed about working with Keaton, who appears as her character's mother. 

She singled out some of the Annie Hall star's earlier films, including Baby Boom and The First Wives Club, as touchstones for her.

'I feel like I could just watch a live stream of Diane Keaton all day because she is just so funny and so smart and so talented,' Roberts enthused. 'Even her mannerisms are so Diane Keaton. So, it was just really fun just to share breathing space with her.'

Family: During her red carpet appearance, Emma joked about how her two-year-old son Rhodes keeps her constantly on the go. 'I definitely have invested in a really comfortable pair of sneakers...'

During her red carpet appearance, Emma joked about how her two-year-old son Rhodes keeps her constantly on the go.

'I definitely have invested in a really comfortable pair of sneakers because he's now faster than me and he's almost as tall as me,' she said. 'I'm soon going to be outpowered. He just turned two and we had a really sweet birthday celebration. It's the best.'
