To put it bluntly, 2023 has been the year of unexpected twists and turns in the celebrity dating world. Couples are getting back together, and just as many, if not more, celebrity couples have called it quits after years together (yes, we're still heartbroken over Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth's surprise split!)

Despite being in some insanely high-profile relationships over the years, Jennifer Aniston has kept her recent dating updates on the private side. But in new photos, we see that Aniston was recently hanging out with her ex-husband Justin Theroux.

In photos obtained by DailyMail, we see Aniston and Theroux embracing one another before sitting across one another at the restaurant II Cantinori in New York City. Now, the two weren't alone. While they did reunite over dinner on April 22, they were joined by mutual pals Jason Bateman and Amanda Anka.

Does this mean romance is on the horizon? Not necessarily. (However, Bateman and Anka are married, so it definitely gave people double-date vibes!) While we will forever 'ship them, it seems this is probably a friendly encounter. Back in 2021, the Spy Who Dumped Me star said to Esquire that he and the Emmy-winning actress are friends. "I would say we've remained friends. We don't talk every day, but we call each other. We FaceTime. We text," he said. "I'm sincere when I say that I cherish our friendship."

When Were Jennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux Together?

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux first met in 2007, when mutual friend Ben Stiller introduced them. They started dating after working together on the set of the 2010 film Wanderlust. Two years later, in August 2012, Aniston and Theroux announced their engagement and tied the knot in 2015. Sadly, though, the couple split in 2018.

Why Did Jennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux Break Up?

While we don't know exactly why, we can infer from what Theroux has said. Per his previous interview with Esquire, he and Aniston didn't have a dramatic split but seemed determined to keep their friendship going. 

"I think that when you get good at relationships—and here I am, single—if you love the person the same way you loved them in the relationship, it would behoove you to love them the same way out of the relationship," he said.

Has Jennifer Aniston Stayed Friends With Any Other of Her Exes?

Even after their messy split, Jennifer Aniston remains close friends with another ex: Brad Pitt! "We're not in daily communication," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "But we wish nothing but wonderful things for each other. Nobody did anything wrong. You know what I mean? It was just like, sometimes things [happen]."

And she's reportedly buddies with her exes Vince Vaughn and John Mayer too!

Has Justin Theroux Stayed Friends With Any Other of His Exes?

As far as we know, not particularly. Besides some rumored flings with other A-listers, the only other confirmed relationship Justin Theroux had was with Heidi Bivens, who he dated from 1997 to 2011. It seems they're not on the best terms, because Bivens reportedly warned Aniston saying, "Don't believe you will have him for good," per the Sun.

How Do Justin Theroux & Jennifer Aniston Know Lovebirds Jason Bateman & Amanda Anka?

It seems lovebirds Jason Bateman and Amanda Anka have a long history, with both Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston, mainly Bateman being close to the two stars. Bateman reportedly helped Theroux stay "sane" about being famous, per Vanity Fair. As for Bateman and Aniston, they've been buddies since their early twenties, and have starred in multiple movies together. Truly, they're one of the most wholesome celebrit BFFS in the game!
