The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons has opened up about a scene that has been cut out of the show from one of the rerun episodes.

There is a moment in the pilot episode of the show where Sheldon and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) go to a sperm bank in an attempt to make a donation, presumably to produce an offspring somewhere in the world.

That scene doesn't exist in the rerun episodes, which would make sense seeing as later on we realise that Sheldon is lacking in the sexual awareness department.

Had this scene still existed in the show, it would have implied that Sheldon at least had some level of sexual knowledge in his life.

And now, Jim Parsons has shared his thoughts about the deleted scene.

"At the time, the sperm bank scene didn't bother me. Looking back, it was out of place, but there was no way for the producers to know..." he said in an interview for Jessica Radloff's oral history of the series titled The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series.

"Nobody knew who Sheldon was yet, so the live audience accepted it for what it was.

But it is confusing information now, and I get why Chuck took it out of syndication because the episode is much stronger and more special without it," he explained.

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that the Big Bang Theorycast felt "blindsided" when Jim Parsons decided that the 12th season would be the show's last.
