Anya Taylor-Joy stole the show at the 78th annual Golden Globe Awards in a custom Dior emerald gown, but there's a behind-the-scene look that's equally dreamy.
In a clip posted on Instagram by Taylor-Joy's stylist Law Roach, The Queen's Gambit star recreated the legendary diamond necklace scene in Pretty Woman.
The 1990 romcom stars Julia Roberts as Vivian, a prostitute hired to play businessman Edward's (Richard Gere) girlfriend. In a memorable scene, Edward presents Vivian with a diamond necklace in a velvet box that he snaps on the woman's fingers, prompting Roberts' endearing laugh we all know and love.
Taylor-Joy recreated the scene backstage right before the Golden Globes while wearing another Dior fabulous gown in a silvery powder blue shade. Just like Richard Gere, Roach presented Taylor-Joy with the Tiffany diamond necklace she paired with her emerald cape and gown. He then proceeded to snap the case on the actress' fingers, who erupted in a contagious laugh.
"Pretty woman remake with her and zendaya," a fan wrote on Twitter.
Despite the huge relevance of Pretty Woman, the 1990 movie hasn't aged particularly well. The film by Garry Marshall includes problematic views on sex workers and it has been deemed profoundly sexist under its progressive surface. If there's ever going to be a remake — whether or not it stars Taylor-Joy — the story is in need of a serious update.
"No disrespect to Anya Taylor-Joy but like, maybe we don't need to make a Pretty Woman remake," was another comment on Twitter.
"I dunno, maybe if we're gonna make a modern movie about a sex worker it's a woman with an OnlyFans who's doing just fine and doesn't need to be "saved" from her job?" the tweet also reads.
"making a 'Pretty Woman' remake would be the mistake," someone else wrote.
Before Taylor-Joy's clip went viral, a prescient tweet envisioned the Pretty Woman remake discourse.
"at some point disney will premiere a disney+ remake of pretty woman and we're just gonna have to deal with that," someone tweeted on February 28.
