True example of perfect casting.

The Big Bang Theory is one of those shows you never get tired of watching. In fact, every time you rewatch it, you find something new to obsess over. New catchphrases, facial expressions, unnoticed characters, and more reasons to binge all over again.

And with each binge, we understand how amazing the show's casting choices really are. There could never be another Penny, and it's impossible to imagine anyone else playing the role of Howard instead of Simon Helberg.

But the best actor-character match is, of course, Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper. We know that even though The Big Bang Theory is a kind of an ensemble show that is mostly focused on portraying the relationships between all the characters, Sheldon was still the breakout one.

Sheldon Cooper is one of the most fan-favorite characters on television, despite the fact that he's also one of the most cringeworthy. But it was Jim Parsons' performance that made Sheldon a true cultural phenomenon.

Parsons made Sheldon funny and cute in his own weird way. He was not totally annoying, as a character like that could have been, and he made us smile most of the time. But there's something that helped Parsons make his portrayal of Sheldon even more truthful.

Turns out they both share a home state. We know that Sheldon is from Texas: the writers of the show emphasize that detail a lot, and there are a lot of storylines that focus on that. And the fact that Parsons is also a Texan just adds up now.

For example, his character's accent was perfect. Since Parsons is actually from Texas, he adopted his hometown accent when Sheldon needed to sound more Texan.

This autobiographical detail alone made the choice of Parsons so logical. Of course, that wasn't the main criteria in deciding who to give the role to, but certainly that kind of actor-character similarity makes the tandem work better.
