They get a knock on their door from a mysterious stranger named G.H. Scott (Mahershala Ali), who informs them of a global catastrophe.
The trailer opens with Clay opening the door to their vacation house in Long Island, finding G.H. dressed in a tuxedo and his wife Ruth (Myha'la Herrold) in an evening gown.
'I'm so sorry to bother you,' he tells Clay, and when Amanda gets to the door, G.H. says, 'You must be Amanda,' which surprises them both.

'I don't understand. What do you mean?' Amanda asks, while Ruth cryptically points to the television as a news alert comes on about, 'ongoing cyberattacks across the country.'
'The truth is much scarier,' G.H. says, and when Amanda asks, 'What is the truth?' their window cracks.
There is another shot of Clay driving his car, when he sees something that utterly terrifies him as he turns the car around as we see a red mist falling from the sky.
The trailer offers a first look at Archie who says, 'We're gonna be OK, right?' while Amanda tries to comfort Rose.
Another shot indicates they're not going to be OK, with Amanda driving at a high rate of speed, clearly terrified.

The film - written for the screen and directed by Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot) based on Rumaan Alam's bestselling book - will have a limited theatrical release starting on November 22 before it debuts on Netflix December 1.
