Jennifer Aniston, 54, reveals the ageist ‘compliment’ she cannot stand: ‘Drives me bananas’

Jennifer Aniston says one commonly used phrase in particular — often disguised as a compliment — drives her "bananas."

The "Friends" star, 54, revealed the phrase "you look great for your age" should instead be, "you look great — period."

"It drives me bananas. I can't stand it," she told British Vogue. "That's a habit of society that we have these markers like, 'Well you're at that stage, so for your age…' I don't even understand what it means."

"I'm in better shape than I was in my twenties. I feel better in my mind, body, and spirit. It's all 100% better," the Emmy winner added.

The actress recently shared the secret to why she looks so great, telling InStyle about her workout routine after years of trial and error.

After admitting to previously feeling pressure to vigorously work out, the star ended up injuring herself.

"When you're in a mindset of, 'I need to do 45 minutes of cardio or I won't get a good workout,' it's daunting," she told the outlet this week. "I believed it for so long. I just burnt out and broke my body."

Aniston said the expectation to "feel the burn" during physical activity is actually a dangerous mindset.

"My physical therapist gave me a Barbie doll that's covered in Kinesio tape," she explained, explaining that the purpose of the tape is "to show every injury I've had in the last 15 years."

Aniston bit off more than she could chew workout-wise in the past and has since turned to the low-impact home workout program Pvolve to maintain her strength in a more balanced way.

"My girlfriend, who I hadn't seen since the pandemic, had completely transformed her body.

Her body was beautiful, but she also said her energy was like it had never been before," Aniston said of the program.

The "Just Go With It" star found Crossfit to be "too aggressive" and boxing to be hard on her wrists, whereas with Pvolve, she doesn't feel "insane fatigue or broken or in pain."

Since starting the workout program in 2021, she became such a fan of Pvolve that she has officially joined the team.
