REAVELED: Jennifer Aniston, 45, arrives at the Oscars ready for fun... despite being overlooked by the Academy for her role in Cake

While Jennifer Aniston's role in Cake was dubbed 'an Oscar-worthy performance' it failed to get a nod from the esteemed awards show.

The 45-year-old, however, appears to have taken it all in her stride as she accepted presenting duties at the 87th Annual event held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Jen proved she was a winner in the style stakes though as she wowed in a nude Versace gown with beading and sequin embellishments.

Golden girl: Jennifer Aniston wowed on the red carpet in a nude Versace gown for the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday

The frock featured a delicate sheer strap on the right shoulder and a knee-high split on the left leg.

She eschewed the classic awards updo and left her golden blonde tresses down and immaculately styled around her bare shoulders.

The former friends star was joined by fiance Justin Theroux, who rocked his signature edgy skinny tie instead of the more classic bow.

Red-hot couple: The 45-year-old actress was joined by fiance Justin Theroux who looked dapper in a black suit and skinny tie

The look of love: The couple gazed adoringly at each other on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood

Traditionally Aniston has adopted roles in romantic comedies - including Along Came Polly, Bruce Almighty, Marley & Me and We're The Millers - but this was one of her first dramas.

Jennifer plays Claire Bennett in Cake, who becomes fascinated by suicide as she attempts to overcome a personal tragedy in a chronic pain support group.

Many critics saw Aniston fulfill her potential in 2002's art-house hit The Good Girl in an even darker, more daring role than in the drama Cake.

10 out of 10: It was clear the Horrible Bosses star was pleased with her Oscar-worthy look

Doing the honours: The Cake star will be presenting an award during the evening's ceremony

Oh hey! The couple were all smiles as they waved to pals in the bustling marquee

That performance earned the Friends star Golden Globe and Critics' Choice nominations over a decade ago.

On the day after failing to receive the Oscar nomination in January, Aniston was promoting Cake while sitting just inches away from a poster touting her 'Oscar-worthy performance.'

So good to see you: The Good Girl actress gave fellow star Emma Stone a huge squeeze on the red carpet

'Well, there's 'Oscar-worthy,'' the actress said, with a grin. 'The truth is, this movie hasn't even come out yet,' she explained at the time.

'I feel so lucky that any of that has even happened on a movie that we started shooting not even a year ago. We started April 3rd of last year. I couldn't ask for more than that. '

But she got at least a little bit more: The Golden Raspberry Foundation, best known for its loving slams of bad cinema with The Razzies, revealed a softer side last month when it announced a new category, the Razzie Redeemer Award, honoring former Razzie regulars who now are doing work worth applauding.

Okay ladies, break it up: The former Friends star kept a firm grip on her young pal

Selfie time: Jennifer and Justin sneaked into JLo's selfie that she uploaded during the ceremony

Powdering her nose: The star was seen having a quick touch-up backstage

Aniston is a Redeemer Award nominee, thanks to her work in Cake.

'That's so nice,' she said, sincerely. 'You get a Nice Razzie.'

While never a winner, Aniston is a four-time Razzie nominee, primarily for roles in her string of generally poorly reviewed, but often commercially successful, romantic comedies.

The fun never ends: Jen and Justin were later seen arriving at the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Beverly Hills

Too adorable: The couple, who have been together since 2011, looked smitten as ever

Off they go: The duo certainly appeared to be in the party mood

Given how the rom-coms overwhelm her filmography, Aniston said she wasn't surprised when Cake director Daniel Barnz asked her to read for the emotionally complex role of Claire Simmons.

'You start to lose trust in yourself that you can do something such as that,' Aniston explained. 'So you actually start to say, "Does the industry actually know something that I don't know? Can I do this?"'

Girlfriends: The Cake actress cosied up to five-time Oscar-nominee Amy Adams

Catching up: The American Hustle star wore a similar strapless beaded number to Jen
