The romcom queen is set to light up the screen again after two decades away from the genre. Julia Roberts will appear in the upcoming Ticket to Paradise alongside George Clooney, with the pair playing a divorced couple trying to stop their daughter from repeating their mistake of rushing to get married.

Explaining her absence from romcoms since the early 2000s, the 54-year-old Notting Hill star told The New York Times, "People sometimes misconstrue the amount of time that's gone by that I haven't done a romantic comedy as my not wanting to do one. If I had read something that I thought was that Notting Hill level of writing or My Best Friend's Wedding level of madcap fun, I would do it … they didn't exist until this movie."

Her past choices of films have served her well, bringing her a fortune of some US$250 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. But how does she enjoy her riches?

Like her career, Roberts' property portfolio is varied. Her various homes are spread among some of the most desirable places in the US, from Hawaii and San Francisco to New York.

Her latest purchase is a century-old Victorian Revival-style house in the heart of San Francisco, bought in 2020. Worth US$8.3 million, the five-storey home is spread over 6,200 sq ft, has five bedrooms with bay windows, 4.5 bathrooms, a wine room, an outdoor dining space and a garden, per New York Post.

In the same year, she sold a house in Malibu for US$8 million, according to Architectural Digest. But she still owns two others there: one a bluff-top estate, with five bedrooms and six bathrooms, bought in 2003 for US$9.5 million. The other, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home with access to Little Dume, one of Malibu's most private beaches, was bought in 2017 for US$3.9 million. She previously rented it out at US$10,000 a month.

Besides these California houses, she has a sprawling US$2.5 million ranch in Taos, New Mexico. Meanwhile, her penthouse in New York and holiday house in Hawaii were reportedly sold in 2015 and 2016, at nearly US$5.4 million and US$16.2 million, respectively.

Owning enviable properties on beautiful beaches is not enough for the Eat Pray Love star, who also apparently loves travelling like her character in that film. Hawaii seems to be her favourite place; even after selling her house there, her family has been spotted on the islands many times.

They also travel around the world and stay in top resorts, of course. Last year they enjoyed a sunny Christmas on Sydney's beaches after a summer holiday on a luxury yacht in Positano on Italy's Amalfi coast. When her kids were small, she also took them everywhere from Ireland to Bali.

When it comes to Roberts' rides, she is a firm fan of Mercedes. She has a Mercedes-Benz GLS, Mercedes-Benz GL and a Mercedes Sprinter Van, all very practical for a family with three kids and worth between US$41,000 and US$150,000, according to Auto Bizz.

Her fourth car is also a practical choice: a Toyota Prius, an efficient hybrid model for city use.

Who could forget the dazzling smile of Vivian, Roberts' iconic 1991 role in Pretty Woman (1991)? It became such a trademark of the actress that she reports swirled about her having it insured for US$30 million, according to many sources.

However, she recently denied this, joking with The New York Times, "If my smile was insured, there would be someone at my house on a nightly basis saying, 'You need to floss longer.'"
