You won't believe how the tables have turned.

One of the things that was expected from The Big Bang Theory 's prequel was to explore the relationships in the broken Cooper household. With each and every character so deeply flawed, but still caring for each other, the dynamic of the sitcom was just as funny as it was touching and heartfelt.

Although Young Sheldon isn't exactly known for sticking to the canon that was described by Sheldon during The Big Bang Theory's run, just like Sheldon himself isn't known to be the most reliable narrator, the writers did everything to lead George and Mary Cooper to the point of splitting up. And they've chosen some pretty great potential paramours for each of them!

While George started to fizzle with emotion to Brenda, Mary found herself interested in a handsome and quite mysterious Pastor Rob. And, although the show did not go as far as making either of the characters actually cheat on their respective spouse, it was clear that they both were very interested in doing so.

Turns out, Young Sheldon fans actually do have a preferred side-pairing, and that is Pastor Rob/Mary Cooper. Judging by the poll that was started on the r/YoungSheldon subreddit, and already gathered a couple hundred votes, the race is pretty close, but Rob and Mary's chemistry seems to have won more people over.

What's surprising is that Mary Cooper was never a fan favorite character. Despite perfectly portraying the struggle of the middle-aged woman in the '90s, who was bored out of her mind by her life and lacked youthful excitement, Mary got many more haters than her husband George.

Now we know that maybe it wasn't her fault exactly, and in any other relationship she would've been much more loved as a character. However, as the writers decided for the Coopers to rekindle and work on their marriage again, there's no real hope for season 7 to have any more spice.
