Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston had a whirlwind romance. They began dating in 2011, were engaged in 2012, and married in 2015. Yet just two and half years later, they announced their separation in February 2018. Though their breakup was amicable, Theroux remains very tight-lipped about what he says publicly about Aniston.

The couple met in 2007 on the set of "Tropic Thunder," a movie that he wrote with Ben Stiller. It was actually Stiller who introduced the couple. Once the movie wrapped they went their separate ways and didn't reconnect until 2010 on the set of another movie, "Wanderlust.

" By 2011, their relationship became public. The couple was seen out on the town and Aniston introduced Theroux to her friends.

They had a small intimate wedding with 70 guests in a top-secret surprise celebration that was masked as Theroux's birthday party. "The Leftovers" star had always tried to keep his personal life private, even after marrying one of the most famous Hollywood actresses, and he still does, even years after their divorce.

Justin Theroux purposely tries to not say anything about his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston if he can help it. When asked in an Esquire interview about what it's like to finally be out of the intense social media limelight where every move in his relationship was discussed, Theroux said he intentionally tries to not comment on Aniston publicly.

"There's something to, once you're out of that, where I want all of my relationships to exist within the four walls of whatever room we're in," explained the "Maniac" star. "And I'm not trying to be evasive, but I talk to Jen—I don't talk about Jen."

It seems like he won't be looking to date a famous actress again.

"Having been in a public relationship, it's much more fun not being in a public relationship," said Theroux. "Me saying anything, even if it was something loving, it would just turn into a thing. So it's a classic no-comment situation for me."

The two are still close friends

Justin Theroux's reluctance to comment on anything to do with Jennifer Aniston is not because he harbors any bad feelings post-divorce. On the contrary, it's the opposite. The actor told Elle that their divorce was not at all contentious or bitter.

"Like it or not, we didn't have that dramatic split, and we love each other," he said. Theroux said his and Aniston's relationship is still good and he still talks to her regularly, keeping up via FaceTime, texts, and phone calls, and though it's not daily communication, it's regular and often.

The actor reminisced on how he realizes that they aren't good for each other but in the end, they are good friends. "I'm sincere when I say that I cherish our friendship," he said. "We can not be together and still bring each other joy and friendship."

It's clear that their relationship now is still a source of support and happiness. "She makes me laugh very, very hard. She's a hilarious person," said Theroux. "It would be a loss if we weren't in contact, for me personally. And I'd like to think the same for her."
